What's new at SunExpress?

As of May 1st 2010, SunExpress completed its 20th anniversary year. At the start of the next 20 years, the company announced that it refreshed and strengthened its brand identity and offerings to customers. Paul Schwaiger, Managing Director of SunExpress told; “Our vision is clear; we aim to become the most preferred airline of Turkish tourism and to provide the best value to our new passengers within Turkey. To be able to do that, we will be launching a number of product enhancements and renew our corporate identity.”

The new corporate identity

An airline’s icon is its aircraft. Starting with our icon, the entire SunExpress brand identity is renewed. We changed the aircraft livery, the logo, corporate colours, fonts and all other visual identity elements. We added new design elements like the “swoosh” and the new colours. Such a major change at corporate identity eventually results in changing the SunExpress web site, intranet, stationary, signs, boarding passes, uniforms, corporate apparel, headrest covers, air sickness bags, air show, safety video, catering concept, catalogues, merchandising and giveaways.

Check-in

 The renewal of the corporate identity also provides opportunity to launch brand new features to create extra quality for our passengers. Check-in process is one of the vital areas where innovations kick-in.

  • New check-in counters with clear signage, directions and common check-in availability will provide easier and faster process for passengers and better queue management for SunExpress Ground Operations

  • SMS pre and post flight information will help passengers save precious time. 
  • New boarding cards with pictures will improve passengers’ flight experience by incorporating the new SunExpress Corporate Identity with beautiful tourism related pictures of our main destinations.

Family and children friendliness

Families and children are one of the key target audiences for SunExpress. We want them to feel special while flying SunExpress.

  • Family priority Check-in units will speed up the process even more for families with small children.
  • Children stool will help young children to be involved at the check-in process; while meeting children’s curiosity, it will support families to watch over their kids.
  • Name badges for children will build emotional relation between the child and SunExpress.
  • Little Friends Club will provide an exclusive platform for SunExpress to build brand awareness and loyalty at children while building an emotional relation with both children and families. Little Friends Club will provide a unique passport for children with which they will collect stamps from each of their SunExpress flight and earning a teddy bear or an aircraft model in return of this collection. Little Friends Club may also evolve into a special website to build even more one-on-one communication with the children. This will be a unique service at Turkish civil aviation.
  • SunExpress Children’s Playground will first be installed at May 1 event area and then at Antalya city center. The unique design of the park will not only provide children to spend enjoyable playing time but also help heavily to the marketing of SunExpress brand. On later stages more playgrounds will be installed at other destinations of SunExpress.

In-flight

As in-flight is the process where our passengers actually meet SunExpress, most of the concentration is given to this area.

  • New boarding music will provide a more exciting entrance to the aircraft.
  • Welcome cards will introduce a brand-new concept to Turkish civil aviation. Passengers will always be welcomed by a crew member with smile and hello and be presented a small welcome card during boarding. This card will serve to a number of missions; first it will promote a SunExpress destination and then at each flight, one of the welcome cards will have a special mark on it. The owner of this marked card will be announced during flight and presented a small gift creating a buzz within cabin.
  • New food concept will be one of the key areas where SunExpress’ extra quality will be visible. At Turkey outbound international flights, we’ll start serving hot meals. Turkey inbound international flights will continue with cold meals and domestic buy-on-board menu will be improved significantly. All international meals will be served in specially designed meal boxes which will carry the design elements of the new corporate identity. All materials used at catering such as cups, sugar bags and etc will be renewedNew in-flight entertainment system will be used to inform and entertain. Safety video will be much shorter and intact reducing the taxi time.
  • Head-rest covers will be in line with the new CI, creating a warm atmosphere inside the cabin.
  • Catalogues and other printed material inside cabin will carry the new CI elements. Including the sickness bag all collateral will be improved.
  • SunTimes will be the new name of onboard magazine. It will reflect the design elements of the new CI.
  • New uniforms for cabin and cockpit will support increasing awareness to onboard innovations.

New aircraft

SunExpress will add 6 brand new Boeing 737-800s to its fleet until the end of 2010, dropping the average age of the fleet to 5.7

Kiosk with new ticketing option

Existing check-in kiosk will be upgraded to provide ticket sales infrastructure.

Frequent flyer program

One of the major launches of May 1 event will be the announcement of SunExpress loyalty program. The main difference of SunExpress FFP will be that it will be based on value not miles.
