Air traffic slowly resumes normal operations 
22.04.2010 German airspace has completely reopened. According to a spokeswoman from German air traffic control all international airports in Germay were reopened as planned during this morning.

16.04.2010 Due to the eruption of an Icelandic volcano, the air traffic in Europe is limited. In Northern and Central Europe a lot of airspaces and airports have been closed or are being closed. Like any other airline SunExpress is also affected by this. Due to the extraordinary situation a number of flights have been cancelled as listed below;

SunExpress increases number of flights by 32% at summer schedule, opens new routes at Istanbul Sabiha Gökcen and Izmir 25 Mart 2010SunExpress increases the number of its weekly flights by 32% to 417 at the summer schedule that starts on March 28. Valid until 30 October 2010, SunExpress will perform 244 domestic and 173 international scheduled flights a week. 

 

SunExpress expanded its fleet to 21 aircraft 
March 5, 2010 SunExpress, the joint venture of Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa, got delivery of a Boeing 737-800 and expanded its fleet to 21 aircraft. 

SunExpress grew 32.3% in 2009 and has a very positive outlook for 2010
27 February 2010 SunExpress, the joint-venture of Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa, improved the number of its passengers by 32.3% in 2009, carrying a total of 5.593.199 people in a year. 

New Destinations of SunExpress
SunExpress adds 7 new destinations to its SAW-based flight network; and also increases the frequency of the current flights operated from Izmir, Istanbul SAW and Antalya. 

SunExpress adds 6 new destinations for Istanbul SAW at the 2009/10 winter schedule
1 September 2009 - SunExpress will start flying to 6 new destinations from its Istanbul Sabiha Gökcen (SAW) base in the winter season and add new frequencies to some of its existing routes in Izmir, Istanbul SAW and Antalya.

SunExpress grew by 34 percent in the first half of 2009
13 July 2009 - SunExpress announced its 6 months operational results for 2009. The Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa joint venture continued its growth and improved the number of its passengers by 34, 1% to 2.382.000 in the first 6 months of 2009.

7 July 2009 - SunExpress, a joint venture of Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa, signed a purchase agreement with Boeing for 6 new 737-800s.

SunExpress purchases aircraft and renews fleet in its 20th year
8 May 2009 - Founded in 1989 by a joint venture of Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa, SunExpress enters to its 20th year announcing its growth plans following the Board of Directors meeting held in Izmir on 8th of May.
