Discover Agadir - sightseeing and eating fresh fish at the harbour

Agadir has a beautiful promenade where tourists can enjoy a walk after their flight and sip an excellent coffee or sample the many local specialities in the cafes and restaurants. To get an overview of the whole city, visit the Kasbah: located on a 235m-high hill, the fortress offers a magnificent view. From there, you can visit the old town, an area called Medina in Arabic. The working harbour, where the fishermen unload their catches, also makes for a fascinating visit. The fresh fish is quickly turned into delicious dishes in the restaurants around the sales hall. The Souk El Had is a good place to buy souvenirs; this market is mainly known for high-quality products from the Souss Valley

Relax on the 10km long beach or explore the surrounding area

A visit to the Valley of Birds, where flamingos and other birds can be seen, is a must for anyone who loves birds. Thanks to its park with a play area, this excursion destination is also recommended for families. The gorge of Asif n’Tarhat, where a small river lined with palm trees runs between its high rock faces, is an ideal destination for hikers; the trail ends on a high plateau with pretty little villages. After all these new impressions, holidaymakers can relax on Agadir’s 10km beach, lying in a sheltered bay. There is plenty of room, both for sun worshippers and parents building sand castles and enjoying water sports with their children. If you are feeling energetic, you can go jet or water skiing, while everyone else can relax on a sunbed, or if preferred, under a parasol.

Trek in the Atlas Mountains or marvel at snake charmers in Marrakech

Essaouira is a beautiful destination for a day trip; the city’s old town with its small streets and whitewashed houses is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The waterfalls at Immouzer are also worth seeing. Tourists can take a trip through the Atlas Mountains, which are very popular with hikers and trekkers, or explore the numerous Berber villages, many of which are quite remote and unspoilt. The city of Marrakech is located about 250km from Agadir. It can be explored on a day trip, but to make the most of its many attractions, an overnight stay is recommended. The market square of Djemaa el-Fna is crowded with traders, musicians, snake charmers and food stalls that perfume the whole area with oriental fragrances.
