Please make your special booking for animal transportation as soon as possible, but not later than 3 working days before departure. To do so, please call our Customer Service Center.
Import regulations, customs documents, veterinary health certificates, inoculations, customs specifications for foreign countries etc. are all the responsibility of the passenger. Please contact the Foreign Embassy of the country you are visiting for information on import requirements, e.g. for inoculations and identification.
Animals may only travel if accompanied by a passenger, and must be registered. Please observe the relevant entry conditions.
Important Notice: From January 29, 2024 onwards, for pet in cabin (PETC) and pet in cargo hold (AVIH) traveling on international flights departing from Türkiye, the Rabies Antibody Titer Test (FAVN) document must be verified by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Türkiye . Please click here to access the verification page.
Animal passports have been a legal requirement since 1st October 2004. Anyone wishing to take a dog or cat abroad will need the blue EU document for their four-legged friend. It is valid in all member states of the European Union, and confirms that the animal has been inoculated against rabies. The international certificate of inoculation previously issued will apply for twelve months from issue.
For further information please contact your veterinarian or the Federal Department for Nutrition and Agriculture.
If it does not exceed the permitted limited number of animals that can travel in the cabin, we will be pleased to take one dog or cat weighing up to 8 kg (incl. container) per passenger in the cabin. Prices start from:
We regret that in the interest of all passengers we can only accept a limited number of pets in the cabin, and that animals must stay on the floor in their locked container for the duration of the flight.
The size of the lockable container (ventilated and waterproof; available from pet shops) must not exceed the published dimensions for hand baggage of length 55 cm, width 40 cm, height 23 cm.
The transport of budgerigars in the cabin is allowed only on domestic flights at a cost starting from prepaid 399 TRY for a one-way flight and 450 TRY at the airport. The regulations for applicable containers apply accordingly.
Dogs and cats weighing more than 8 kg will be transported in the hold. Prepaid prices start from €119,99 on one-way international flights and £104,99 on the UK flights. At the airport, prices start from €160 on one-way international flights and £160 for the UK flights. For domestic flights, the cost is 700 TRY on a one-way flight.
Passengers can buy special containers in pet-shops; they must allow air to circulate, be waterproof and escape-proof.
A water container must be present and securely affixed inside the shipping container, with outside access for filling that does not require opening the shipping container, thereby preventing any potential escape of the animal. Food containers must also be provided — either inside the container (if sealed) or securely attached to it. Food may be attached to the shipping container for use in case of delay.
Note:
Feed the animal a light meal at least two hours before dispatch, provide a short drink, and give the animal exercise immediately before crating.
Animals normally do not require additional feeding within 12 hours following dispatch. Water must be provided if the total journey time exceeds 12 hours. Take care not to overfill the water container.
If feeding becomes necessary due to an unforeseen delay, provide a meal, biscuits, or canned pet food, but avoid overfeeding. Animals must not fly within two hours of eating.
In accordance with the international aviation rules, unfortunately we are not allowed to transport the following dog breeds:
The transportation-exclusion involves only thoroughbred animals and crossings of these races among each other.
Pets can be transported from Dubai as AVIH/PETC. However, when traveling to Dubai, all animals must be shipped strictly as cargo consignments under an AWB.
