By camel or quad through the desert

Visitors can explore the Egyptian desert of Egypt by jeep, quad or on the back of a camel. For example, the region around the Siwa Oasis is well suited to an adventurous tour by quad. These trips are usually accompanied by a leader who is experienced in the desert. Equally impressive are the Bahariya Oasis and the nearby White Desert, with limestone formations protruding like giant mushrooms. The Farafra Oasis is an ideal destination for an excursion – there are large palm groves to admire, and staying at the hot spring is a very special experience. Farafra is ideal for an evening trip when it gradually cools down after the heat of the day: you get a magnificent view of the starry sky when bathing.

The Red Sea - ideal for diving and snorkelling

Egypt’s most beautiful resorts are on the Red Sea. On this coast, holidaymakers relax on endless sandy beaches or explore the fascinating underwater world. The clear water contains no suspended particles,  offering those diving and snorkelling a good view of the coral reefs and the myriads of colourful fish. This is why there are many dive schools in the coastal towns of the Red Sea, where they are very happy to teach beginners how to dive. Another way for holidaymakers to discover the underwater world is on a tour in a glass-bottomed boat. The Red Sea coast is also ideal for all kinds of water sports, since the water is pleasantly warm, even in winter. If you like, you can even swim with dolphins and view these intelligent animals at close quarters.

The best time for a flight to Egypt

In Egypt, the temperatures rise in the summer months, often to more than 40 °C. This is especially true for the desert regions and cities of the south, such as Aswan. The spring, autumn and winter are particularly suitable for sightseeing along the Nile or for desert excursions. In the coastal towns of the Red Sea, it also gets very hot in summer: the average temperature in Hurghada is already around 37 °C in June, so off-season is also recommended for this destination. Swimming and water sports are available in any season since the water has a year-round temperature of at least 21 °C.
